Editing Lesson Blog

Hello, today we learned about the editing process for our commercial. On the desktop, there is an app called pinnacle studios. This is where we would edit our videos for our commercial. We would open a new folder to save our work and put the SD card into a SD card reader. Look for footage in the DCIM and it should be based on the times and dates. Let's say you don't find the footage you would go to private, go to AVCHD, go to the next folder, and then go to the stream. If you are working in pairs, or trios you should use the same computer every time you are working. It's important that you do because if you aren't here your group still needs to continue doing they're work without you. Once you find your videos highlight them and put them into your folder. Then you're gonna dump your photos which means getting footage off of your camera and onto your computer.

Continuing on with the edit process, you would import footage from your computer to pinnacle studios. You should not click on word desktop, click on "t". Make sure you import all your footage for editing. Next you would go to "Edit". The raw footage, which is untouched footage, should be edited. Leave track 1 open for titles, track 2 is for footage, and track 3 is sound. To be able to split your footage, you'd have to hit the razor blade icon. To detach audio, you'd select the clip in raw footage, right click, and remove the audio. Make the title and then after drag it to track 1. When you're completely done with your project you have to export the footage and make a mpeg.4 and make sure you're on full size, best quality.

We also learned and see what camera we are going to use. It's a small, handheld camera and it's great for recording and taking pictures. You'd have to sign it out every time you want to get one and it is a process. The camera comes with a SD card, SD card reader, tripod, and filming pass. The tripod can be extended further, making it longer, and having it be stationary for the camera. Every time you move for a place to another, you'd have to reattach the tripod because some people trip and fall when moving. The tripod can be moved left to right, it can be tilted, and it can move up and down when recording. The SD card holds all of your footage. When inserted into the SD card reader, all of your videos will appear on the computer. This is all we learned today in class.
