Audiences and Institutions Essay

Component II-Question 2-Audiences and Institutions

In the film industry, marketing is a huge part of it. Promoting the movie around the world is what get the audience to go to the movie theaters to watch them. The more viewers, the more money is received.

In the movie, Black Panther, many marketing tactics was used. The movie made approximately $361 million dollars in the first week alone. There are many ways to distribute the movie into the world, Black Panther showed that. During the NBA Finals game, the debut of the trailer was shown, this was a good marketing tactic because there were so many viewers. I remember seeing the trailer during the NBA Finals game, I was so into it with all the lighting and action. Another marketing tactic was when Marvel Studios hosted a New York Fashion week event, showing the different clothing that were presented or inspired by the movie. This was an example of the marketers trying to appeal to a different form of art.

Another movie, that used many marketing tactics is Spider-Man: Homecoming. The marketing tactics used in this movie was when Marvel Studios released merchandise before the movie came out. They wanted to increase the intensity of the movie. The marketing team wanted to include kids, so they used toys and other products to catch their attention. The new Spider-Man game for PS4 also helped with the tactics. Spider-Man is a Marvel superhero, so kids would be attracted to him instantly.
In the movie, Jurassic World used marketing tactics by including companies such as Legos to make games and toys. Using cross promotion by even having Jurassic World themed candy. The merchandise release was a big release. Limited edition DVD sets were sold as long with posters. Comcast is parent company with Universal Studios which allowed them to acquire TV spots. By rerunning older movies, it allowed the viewers to remember how good the old movies were.

All in all, marketing provides a great contribution to the film industry. Marketing gives movies the attention from many viewers around the world. Through my examples, it shows that marketing works. Marketing is more than important in the film industry.

Practice Extract Essay: 24 Extract

 24 Practice Extract Essay
In the extract “24,” a serious interrogation takes place. The person who is interrogating isn’t allowing himself to be tricked so easily. The woman who is being interrogated will not say a word to the interrogator. The investigator decides to interrogate her in his own way.

The first scene starts off with the over the shoulder shot and set design. The set design includes the handcuffs, tables, chairs, and papers which showed that it was an investigation. When watching movies and shows, this set design is common. The over the shoulder shot was to record the interrogation and build up the suspense in the interrogation. Adding on the incidental music was before the interrogation and in the beginning, which brought up the suspense.

In the third scene, dialogue was used to start talking about the bomb and how to stop it and was also used for the audience to understand the problem that was going on. The lighting design that was used gave a certain mood. The mood can be described mysterious because the lights were dimmed and focused on the two people. When the interrogator flipped over the table while the person being interrogated was sitting there that showed a Dutch angle. The interrogator was getting frustrated because the woman wouldn’t talk.

The person filming used an over the shoulder shot in the sixth scene after the fact that the interrogator flipped over the table. In this case, the shot was used to build suspense because the interrogator seemed more upset with the woman.
In the seventh scene, a reaction was made when the interrogator seemed very aggressive and the fact the more the woman didn’t talk, the more he got mad which made him madder. It built up the intensity of the scene.

Throughout the scenes, the director wanted to use the specific types of camera angles, shots, movements, sound, editing, and mis en scenes. The director wanted the audience to stay attached to the screen by building up their intensity and suspense.

CCR

This is my CCR. It is explaining what I learned throughout the process of creating my movie. It gives examples of my film throughout the video.

Movie

This is our final film together. It was a process to complete because the coronavirus appeared delaying the process. I had to finish all the editing. I shortened our film from 2 minutes 54 seconds to 2 minutes. Deciding which scenes to cut out was hard because each one was essential, but I ended up figuring out a way to do so.

Music Video

This is the music video, we used the song God's Plan by Drake. This is the second recording we did with each other.

Gatorade Commercial

Re-edit film

Unfortunately this in no way occurred, due to Covid-19. We had been by no means in a position to meet up and re-shoot consequently we ought to in no way re-edit. Although we did now not re-shoot and gather new photos we laboredwith what we had. Due to the situations we had a feeling re-shooting would no longer occur. This did now not give upus. With the photos we had, I went to work. He constant all the components that wished it. He would then ship us the new movie and we would provide our thoughts. Lucky for us I am super at editing. After a couple tries, he perfected it. My crew used to be impressed. I labored my magic as soon as again. Working with the authentic photos and i-movie it used to be nearly like we did no longer want to re-shoot in the first place. After I used to be achieved we all regarded it over and Jontae critiqued it a little. We have been now carried out and we eventually should sit down lower backand revel in the film. It looks our experience collectivelycan also be over with. Now that our movie is whole nothing else is needed. I definitely desire we have been nonethelessin college and all working together, however it is essentialthat we take precautions. Anyways the movie became out higher then I ever expected. My teammates and I did a magnificent job, every body contributed and performed a role.
