Editing the Commercial

Today, my group and I finished the filming for our Gatorade commercial. I took some extra shots, just incase the other films were corrupted or didn’t come out correctly. Michael went to go get the Gatorade bottle again and I went in the gym to go get the basketball. Jontae and I were dribbling the basketballs for the footage. Fulvio was recording and it was a two shot of Jontae and I. I was hot and was sweating a lot. I did retakes to make sure I looked good while dribbling and it seen that I was holding the bottle correctly.

Next, Jontae and I said our lines and we made sure that everything was set for the shot. I said my lines and drank water out the bottle and showed the Gatorade symbol. The shot went well and we returned back to class to start our editing process. I couldn’t start editing because Pinnacle Studios wasn’t working on our computers and it was a disaster.

I dumped all the footage into the folder, that already had the other shots in it. From there, since we couldn’t, edit we saved all of our shots into a google drive and so editing couldn’t be done today. We attempted to edit one more time but we couldn’t. The app on the computer wouldn’t load and so from there we just stopped trying and told the teacher.

Filming the Commercial

Today we are filming our Gatorade commercial. We completed majority of our commercial. I started bring all the materials that we needed to film. Grabbed the most important stuff like Gatorade bottle, basketball, and shoes. For the first part, I watched Michael run on the track. While Fulvio was recording him and taking the tracking shots. The materials we had were the camera, SD card, and the tripod. We were ready to shoot.

Then we moved on to the next scene. Michael was saying his lines for the commercial and doing what he needed to do for the commercial. We had to have multiple takes for this part because Michael couldn’t say his lines correctly. I watched as Fulvio took the takes and then take a close up shot of the Gatorade bottle. From there we are almost complete with our commercial.

When we returned to class, I helped return the materials we used for filming except
for the SD card. I used the SD card to dump the footage into a file. So I put the SD card into the SD card reader and then after I took all the footage and dumped it into the folder we were saving  everything in. Once my group watched everything and agreed with it, I took the SD card and returned it.

Editing Lesson Blog

Hello, today we learned about the editing process for our commercial. On the desktop, there is an app called pinnacle studios. This is where we would edit our videos for our commercial. We would open a new folder to save our work and put the SD card into a SD card reader. Look for footage in the DCIM and it should be based on the times and dates. Let's say you don't find the footage you would go to private, go to AVCHD, go to the next folder, and then go to the stream. If you are working in pairs, or trios you should use the same computer every time you are working. It's important that you do because if you aren't here your group still needs to continue doing they're work without you. Once you find your videos highlight them and put them into your folder. Then you're gonna dump your photos which means getting footage off of your camera and onto your computer.

Continuing on with the edit process, you would import footage from your computer to pinnacle studios. You should not click on word desktop, click on "t". Make sure you import all your footage for editing. Next you would go to "Edit". The raw footage, which is untouched footage, should be edited. Leave track 1 open for titles, track 2 is for footage, and track 3 is sound. To be able to split your footage, you'd have to hit the razor blade icon. To detach audio, you'd select the clip in raw footage, right click, and remove the audio. Make the title and then after drag it to track 1. When you're completely done with your project you have to export the footage and make a mpeg.4 and make sure you're on full size, best quality.

We also learned and see what camera we are going to use. It's a small, handheld camera and it's great for recording and taking pictures. You'd have to sign it out every time you want to get one and it is a process. The camera comes with a SD card, SD card reader, tripod, and filming pass. The tripod can be extended further, making it longer, and having it be stationary for the camera. Every time you move for a place to another, you'd have to reattach the tripod because some people trip and fall when moving. The tripod can be moved left to right, it can be tilted, and it can move up and down when recording. The SD card holds all of your footage. When inserted into the SD card reader, all of your videos will appear on the computer. This is all we learned today in class.

Research Convention & Codes

Today, our group decided on the product Gatorade for our commercial. Michael, Fulvio, Jontae, and I all play a sport and consume Gatorade to refuel. Many famous athletes consume Gatorade in order to restore the electrolytes that have been lost. Athletes all around the world drinks Gatorade. Electrolytes are a substance that produces an electrically conducting solution when dissolved in a polar solvent, such as water. When the human body is low on electrolytes some affects can be, irregular heartbeat, weakness, bone disorders, twitching, change in blood pressure, confusion, seizures, and numbness. It is very important to insure you have a good amount of electrolytes in your body so you don't feel the affects shown above. That's why a drink like Gatorade is very important and should be advertised as much as it is.

In Gatorade commercials with Michael Jordan the brand claimed that people should “Be Like Mike Drink Gatorade.” In addition to Jordan athletes like JJ Watt And Serena Williams can be seen in different Gatorade commercials. The common theme in all these commercials is that these athletes are telling viewers they can be like them by drinking Gatorade. This makes the viewers like us want to purchase the drink and hope to be successful like these big name athletes.
These commercials often take place in a gym, outside, somewhere the athlete does his sport best. Common music in these commercials are intense, workout music to get you hype. These commercials include athletes from high school all the way to the pros.

Introductory

Hi, my name is Edgardo. As a person I tend to be caring and helpful when I wanna be but when people do too much and over exaggerate on small problems I just fall back be like “okay”. Yes I know what I did wrong but at the same time you don’t gotta lecture me about it every time we talk. In my opinion I’m a good person to talk to about problems because I won’t judge you no matter what you did, I’d just listen and tell you how I feel about the situation. I might lie here and there but being honest is big for me. I’m a funny guy well my friends say I’m not but we’ll just go with what I said.

One thing I love doing is playing basketball, it clears my mind over everything that is stressing even though I get yelled that it doesn’t affect me because I know he’s yelling to make me a better and smarter player. I also do photography as a hobby, I try to make cash off it but right now it’s been a struggle doing it. I dislike eating vegetables and going home, it annoys me being home.

I take some pretty interesting but difficult classes; majority of them are a AICE classes. If you don’t know what AICE is it’s basically college level classes that are being taught in England or United Kingdom, I don’t know for sure. I take 4 of those classes which means I get a lot of homework which I expected and also didn’t expect because the workload is tiring. The teachers expect for us to know what we’re doing but in this case I don’t know what I’m doing most of the times. I try my best but at the end of the day if I don’t know it I just don’t do it.
