Filming Blog

Last class period, Michael, Fulvio, Jontae, and I were deciding on when we would want to film our music video. Jontae and I couldn't do the weekend because our schedule didn't fit the other group members. It is difficult trying to set up a time where we could film because each person is busy. Friday, I had a basketball game that night so we couldn't film on that day. The following day, I had another basketball game so it wasn't decided on doing it that day. Sunday, one of the group members couldn't do it. So now we're trying to see what's the best date for everyone. I suggested specific dates but it was a no. So the best we can do is right after school but we still don't know a date. We will figure it out.

So after figuring out, the day we are going to shoot. We decided to go over how we're going to film again. We discussed the places and how we're going to do it. The mall may be a little crowded but we will end up shooting a shot from there. Head over to the beach and try our best to get tracking shots. Our best option is to figure out where we are going to meet up and from there execute. The filming process can take quite a while considering how much times we have to do a retake. I want to film from the roof but we might not get access. I don't wanna get kicked out of the mall. Being patient is all I wanna do when recording.

Filming can get hard at times. Moving to the right shots and angles can get annoying. However, filming brings experience on how to film when working. I was thinking about filming by myself but it would've been tough. Setting up the tripod and doing it myself would be difficult. That's why I wanted to work in a group. Being in a group, we can split up and record separate scenes. By the end of next week, we should be done recording. That's the goal. We will discuss it more tomorrow.

2. In the second shot the three people inside of the car are listening to the song as the car is  parked. This is a medium shot.
3. The three people get out of the car and begin walking. This is a tracking shot as it follows them walking.
4. The three people are walking around a nicer area of the mall where there is a nice car which they can be seen reacting to.
5. Then the start taking pictures in front of the car. Additionally they can be seen dancing around the car to the song.
6. Then they begin using props such as money while they continue hanging out around the car
7. Then there is a jump cut to a shot of the three people riding Lime scooters in the beach on a nice, sunny day.
8. The three of them can then be seen having a good time at the beach, laughing and talking to each other.

Planning Blog

1. For our location we will be filming at the Galleria Mall and the beach. We chose to film here because it is a nice area and everyone is able to meet up at this location. In case this doesnt work we are going to meet up at Hagen park on Wilton drive because it is also very close and easy to get to.

2. For our Health and Saftey we will make sure to buckle up when driving, be aware of surroundings, and make good decisions. We will also make sure no one has food allergies to insure saftey. By doing this we will be safe and have no problems during the filming process.

3. The props we will be using in this video is a car in which we will dance in front of  and lean on. We will also carry money and show it off as a prop. The final prop is food, in the music video Drake is seen giving homeless people food. We are using the car and money to show that we are on the up rise and doing good.

4. The costumes that we will wear when we are filming is a gold chain and hats. We are dressing this way because in the Gods plan music video they dress like that.

5.  The schedule that we will be following is next class 11/20 we will story board for the video. On 11/24 we will film our music video at the given location. On 11/26 we will dump our footage on to the computer and begin the editing process. It is then Thanksgiving break we get back on 12/2 and the next class period is 12/3 we will then finish editing and be done that day. The due date is 12/9 so we will have two class periods to fix anything we did not like and will perfect it and turn it in.

Music Video Intro

When choosing the song it was a difficult choice. Two of our teammates were not here and were not answering the phone. Jontae preferred songs from the rap genre and I preferred songs from the pop genre. Jontae and I looked through lists of the top songs and had different opinions. We finally found a song we both enjoyed we agreed on "Gods plan" by Drake. We both like Drake and Gods plan is a mixture of pop and rap. It falls under the genre of pop-rap which was perfect. It has a very catchy beat and the lyrics are well written. I texted the other group members and they finally answered and agreed with our choice. Gods Plan is the perfect song for our group.

We started doing more research on the genre and learned a lot. The costumes that are usually seen in the pop-rap genre are comfortable stylish outfits with jewelry. The lighting usually seen in this genre is bright and uplifting. The acting in this genre is cool, not too much like pop but not too much like rap in the middle. The makeup in the genre is nothing insane, it looks natural. The props in this genre varies on what song but cars are usually used as a prop. The setting that is commonly used by the pop-rap genre is usually around a city area or in a house in a neighborhood not like the suburbs or an abandoned place. The genre has a similar sound it's a good beat with not too much rap but not too much pop. The editing in these videos arent too complex and are pretty basic.

Final Blog for Commercial

For the following two class periods, we've been editing our commercial. In my opinion, this was the most fun thing to occur during the process of doing the commercial. In the class, our teacher taught us how to use Pinnacle Studios. From there we had complications, we couldn't edit our commercial so we had to put it in Michael's google drive. For the first time, we were able to edit and to be honest I was excited to see how it turned out. We pulled the footage from the Michael's drive and imported it into Pinnacle Studios. Coming up with the idea for our commercial wasn't as challenging as I thought it would be.

The first day, we accomplished a lot. The commercial was looking good. I went through each scene, made sure it was the correct one and then edit it together to see how it would look. Of course we recorded each scene twice just in case, one of the footage was corrupted or something was off in it. Each clip we inserted took a while to load which aggravated me. By the time class ended we got a lot done and from there we just needed to put the finishing touches on our commercial.

On our final day of working on our commercial, Michael grabbed the laptop and we did not waste anytime so we can make sure we got this commercial done. I opened up Pinnacle Studios and our file were still there. So today we added sound effects and transitions to make our commercial cool you can say. I put in the transitions while Jontae gave me advice on what I should use. After completing all that it was time to export it and turn in to a MPEG. Finally we submitted it to our teacher and we were finished.
